Although based in the Les Gets-Morzine region of the French alps, near to Chamonix, Simon has the ability and experience to work anywhere in the world, so no matter how far reaching your aspirations are, Simon can work with you wherever your next big adventure may be.

There are many ways to enjoy skiing and Simon is keen to share them with you!  Simon has been a Ski Instructor and gained BASI ski teaching qualifications prior to becoming a Mountain Guide.  Having ski coaching and 20 years back country skiing experience, Simon has a wealth of knowledge and technique to pass on.

Off Piste  Skiing and Coaching, develop your ski skills and learn about skiing off piste safely with our tailor made Piste to Powder days available throughout the winter.  From his winter base near Samoans / Morzine, Les Gets, Flaine, some great off piste terrain is hidden away just waiting to be explored.  All other key alpine ski areas can be used, where ever the snow is good and you what to ski.

Introduction to Ski Touring  "Want to get away from the crowds and ski fresh snow? Well, this could be for you!" From single day tours developing the skills to travel both up and down hill, to multi day tours using mountain huts and valley based hotels to complete great mountain journeys, Simon can help you develop the skills required to have fun and travel safely this winter.

The Classic Haute Route  Chamonix to Zermatt is one of the most sort after trips and a magnificent multi day journey over high glacial terrain and mountains.  This is often done in March –May depending on conditions, many other great ski tours across the alpine areas are available, and often quieter than the popular haute route!

Alpine Mountaineering

Climbing some of the great mountains of the alps require a blend of skills and experience often combining rock climbing and mountaineering with winter skills for glacier travel, and dealing with the issues of altitude.

If your tastes lay in conquering the classic alpine summits, during the summer months Simon offers many alpine experiences, and a trip on any scale can be organised in the area that you are interested in. 

Even the most experienced climbers and mountaineers feel the need for professional support whilst stepping out into the higher ranges, and the most confident of British mountaineers are often surprised at the range of new skills, tips and tricks they pick up just being out in the mountains with a guide for the day, regardless of what they set out to learn.  Climb Classic 4000m peaks and develop your skills, limb Mount Blanc with a group or with a special 1 to 2 guiding package, ask Simon about the Arolla Alpine Intro Week or Skills and Peaks experiences.

Alpine Summer Activities

Based around the Morzine, Avoriaz, Samoens area, Simon can offer summer rock climbing, amazing via feratta as well as glacier walking and mountaineering in the Chamonix region.  The Alps are one of the worlds most sought after mountain playgrounds, with a relative ease of access to some of the finest mountains and often great summer weather conditions.

In the summer months, the instruction of a mountain guide will teach you modern safety techniques, alpine rope work, glacier travel and personal mountaineering skills, such as climbing technique, movement coaching, navigation, crampon and axe skills.  Alternatively you may just wish to be shown the best bolted sport climbing crags away from the madding crowds, have that extra bit of confidence on your first multi pitch rock or mixed route in the Aiguilles Rouge, or enjoy an unforgettable few days of your holiday pursuing some of the mind boggling sport via ferrata with their over hanging ladders, rope bridges and tyroleans that the French alps have to offer!

Rock Climbing  Whether in the UK or Europe, great adventures await.  All abilities can have a great safe learning experience.  North Wales classics, and the 1000m challenge!

Alpine Rock  Some of the greatest rock climbing in the world in amazing alpine settings. These climbs often have short approaches, sometimes crossing  glaciers, and may have interesting abseil descents.  The rock is often warm and the chalk flying.  Fantastic!

Alpine via Ferrata  There are lots of amazing via ferrata in Europe and they provide great sport with varying levels of challenge.  In France and Switzerland many new via ferrata have been built recently.  Simon can guide and teach you the skills required in this new and exciting environment.

Transceiver use and safe travel, one and two day courses for winter sports people on skis or snow shoes.

Mountain Safety Coaching

Specific coaching packages for  BASI instructors and other winter professionals looking for additional training, on-the-hill experience or pre-assessment cramming!  Also available as a ski or snowshoe based course.
